Police and Fire were called to Tasty Provisions in St Mary's Street, Lincoln about 2344 on Christmas night where the business premises were on fire. There was no need for any premises to be evacuated as they are all business and all were closed at the time. The caller reported seeing a man dressed in dark clothing, possibly wearing a cap, running away from the premises immediately after it caught fire. It is believed the man ran over the rail footbridge. The fire was extinguished. St Mary's Street is likely to remain closed this morning whilst fire investigators and police scenes of crime officers examine the scene to establish how the fire started. Anyone who was in the area about the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police in confidence on the non-emergency number 101.
